The Little Penguin’s Riesling

I’m trying the wines, y’all.
You know I’m a hard liquor kind of gal but I know that there is more out there than rum so I’m broadening my horizons.
Tonight, I tried the Little Penguin’s Riesling. I know. Another wine with an animal on the label and another yellow bottle. I like yellow and I like animals. Sue me. This also another Australian wine though I didn’t pick it because of its country of origin-pure coincidence.

Since I had already picked up a red I was looking for something that appeared to be the exact opposite of the Shiraz. The Riesling is almost clear and has a clean, fruity taste to it. It manages to be slightly sweet and crisp all at the same time.
With the couple of lighter wines that I’ve tried, I always had to resort to mixing them with fruit juice of some sort so that I didn’t let the wine go to waste. Not so this time.
It didn’t make my mouth go dry. It didn’t make me scrunch up my face. It allowed me to enjoy the wine on its own and enjoy it I did…along with my ham sandwich.
Wonder how many sommeliers are spitting out their really expensive wines all over their computer screens right now?
The wine cost me $8 and it was good to the last drop. Maybe I don’t have the most refined palate when it comes to wines but I know what I like and the Little Penguin’s Riesling will definitely grace my red party cup at some point in the very near future.
