The Michigan Men and the Weekend Round-Up

Just to recap:
Jim Harbaugh, not a Michigan man, leads 40-point underdog Stanford to upset over #1 ranked USC at USC. It is considered in some circles the biggest intra-division upset in college football history.
Then #5 Michigan, which one would presume to be full of Michigan men, loses to D-2 (or whatever they’re called nowadays) Appalacian State at home. It is because of this loss that the Stanford-USC upset must have that little “intra-division” caveat.
In summation, perhaps being a “Michigan Man” isn’t quite so important.
On to the rest of the round-up…
I think Les Miles should just go for it on every 4th down, just to see if it keeps working. It might.
“Juice” Williams hasn’t stabbed anyone yet, despite the nickname and the football success.
The Texans are 3-2. The rapture is imminent. Prepare accordingly.
Hey, Notre Dame won. UCLA must suck out loud.
Holy shit, the Chargers showed up. 41-3. Well, back to being a disappointment next week.
Ohio State appears to be pretty good, I assume they’re all still cheaters.
The Bears beat the Packers, for some reason this upset me significantly. Also, I still don’t understand how Green Bay can challenge the spot of the ball, then the spot of the ball can be overturned by replay, but the Packers still lose their time-out. Do they really need to have the first down be overturned to retain their timeout. That makes little sense to me. They challenged the spot of the ball, and the spot of the ball was changed. I mean, isn’t that winning the challenge?
Trent Green should never leave the pocket. I’m glad he’s alright, but at this point it seems to be like one of those Troy Aikman or Steve Young things. He should retire while he can still think relatively clearly. He’d probably be a good TV guy.
The Patriots remain very good at tackle football.
Detroit don’t play particularly well when they compete with NFC East teams. It is very fortunate for them that they don’t play in the NFC East.

I definitely think Stanford beating USC was a bigger upset than Appy State beating Michigan. The Big Ten isn’t exactly fast paced football.
Trent Green is asking for trouble…there is a reason why quarterbacks shouldn’t try to tackle somebody – they simply don’t know how to do it.
If he takes a few more shots like that, his mind could end up like cottage cheese in a few years.
I will be very curious to see how Aikmen and Young are faring health-wise in 10-15 years. It will be interesting to see if all those concussions come back to haunt them.
