I tried to use quickoffice 5 on one phone just to see how the best industrial app works. That phone was nokia n95 a symbian s60 phone. I was very disappointed to say the least. Firstly there was no appropriate help or manual or user guide especially on the shortcut keys. Secondly editing was a problem since the default for the keys are numbers and when I pressed and held # button I was able to enter the letters, but this was disabled as soon as I moved to the next cell and I was required to press and hold the # button to enter words as I moved from cell to cell. Thirdly I discovered that there was no way of inserting charts such as bar or pie charts which is a very important factor to me as it would enable me to do a quick analysis of the data on the phone. There seems to be no provision for this since when I selected “insert” on the options all I saw were row column and worksheet. As a matter of fact this is what put me off most. Fourth point is the fact that there is a lot that is yet to be done about power point editing which seemed a bit clumsy for me. There was no auto way to view the slides. In zoom mode the viewing of the slides was not smooth. However I discovered that quickoffice was fast at whatever zoom level and that it worked very well with rotateme because it was showing a real full screen even in landscape mode. I would like to take this opportunity also to request Quickoffice.com to come up with a forum where all users can express their views in terms of suggestions and sharing. A trial version would also be welcome.
