“The Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D”

The Nightmare Before Christmas crosses a couple holidays and is a staple in many households this time of year. It works for Halloween and for Christmas so I wouldn’t be surprised if audiences turned out in droves to see this classic reworked into 3-D. It hits theaters tomorrow and I’m sure that the updated version of this stop-motion flick is going to be great.
The film follows the life (or death?) of Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon) and his fellow residents in Halloween City. Jack is finding it harder and harder to get enthusiastic for the holiday and, while out wandering through the woods, he comes across Christmas Town and sets out to kidnap Santa Claus so that he can switch holidays. Unfortunately, this plan backfires and sets off an awful chain of events.
Naturally, the plot finds a way to bring across the true meaning of Christmas but not in an overt way (I’m sure the fact that the cast is mostly made of corpses and skeletons helps). The movie is good and the attention to detail is amazing but I think that it would not have been close to as good without the musical score which written by Danny Elfman. Overall, this is a great holiday movie so if you are willing to go back to the theater and see it again (it was originally released in 1993), this might be something to see over the weekend.
