The Office started as a British series on BBC starring Ricky Gervais (who co-created the show with Stephen Merchant) and has gone on to inspire versions all over the world in a number of languages including the one starring Steve Carell on NBC.
I think this show is so successful because it taps into the work lives of so many people who can identify with the characters. It’s filmed in a mockumentary style (without a laugh track or studio audience) which I think adds to the show’s realism.
The Office: Season Five is now available on DVD so you’ve still got time to pick up a copy and catch up before the sixth season begins on September 17, 2009. Regional manager, Michael Scott (Carell), tries to steal customers from competing paper companies while attempting to keep his office running smoothly.
The DVD set includes 26 episodes – including two one-hour specials, exclusive commentaries, webisodes, deleted scenes and more.
