The Potential of FriendFeed

The other day I caught sight of this service from Robert Scoble who had signed up for the service, check his post about it. The service in a nutshell is an rss feed of a person that mashes up or aggregated all news and posts of the person on a single feed. Here is Scoble’s feed.

As you can see the feed not only integrates posts but almost all online activities of an individual, The service uses web crawling technologies -the same one used in search engines.

FriendFeed can with your permission collect and mashup or aggregate together from the following websites:

# Amazon.com
# Blog
# del.icio.us
# Digg
# Flickr
# Furl
# Gmail/Google Talk
# Google Reader
# Google Shared Stuff
# iLike
# Jaiku
# Last.fm
# LinkedIn
# Ma.gnolia
# Netflix
# Pandora
# Picasa Web Albums
# Pownce
# Reddit
# SmugMug
# StumbleUpon
# Tumblr

FriendFeed is truly an interesting tool for interacting and uodating with friends. And aside from the cyberstalking potential of FriendFeed I think it can also be used as an RSS feed of experts and industry icons. Potentially it can be used to mashup feeds and online activitities of groups, institutions or businesses.
