Here’s a sync tool for all developers, the Microsoft Sync Framework which had its public preview earlier this week. The tool allows a way for software developers to include data synchronization capabilities into applications they develop, this will include as well all sorts of desktop and office suites as well. Some may think that this is another sort of a Google Gear but it is a different platform. The platform may not require developers to code new sync functionalities yet it already has its framework.
Anyway, here’s a more detailed description of the tool from Microsoft’s website.
Microsoft Sync Framework is a comprehensive synchronization platform that enables collaboration and offline scenarios for applications, services and devices. Developers can build sync ecosystems that integrate any application, any type of data, using any protocol over any network. The product highlights the following features:
- Add sync support to new and existing applications, services, and devices
- Enable collaboration and offline capabilities for any application
- Roam and share information from any data store, over any protocol, and over any network configuration
- Leverage sync capabilities exposed in Microsoft technologies to create sync ecosystems
- Extend the architecture to support custom data types including files
