The Quick 10 Minute Workout

10 minute workouts won’t get the job over the long haul, but when you’re short on time you can still give your muscles a workout as well as burn some calories.  Because you’re short on time, these exercises all work off your own body weight and can be done in your living room.

The 10 Minute Workout

30 sit-ups

20 push-ups

10 standing squats

30 jumping jacks

10 5-counts*

10 leg raises**

20 floor runs***

10 inside position push-ups (for triceps)

This workout packs a great punch, hitting all major muscle groups while incorporating a little cardio.  You will need to rest minimally – if at all – between sets to get all exercises in 10 minutes.  If you get done before 10 minutes, go back to sit ups and strengthening your core.

* 5-counts are standing straight up, dropping to a crouch, kicking your legs out to a push-up position, then coming back to a crouch and finally standing up

* leg raises work the upper thigh, abdominals, and hips.  For leg raises, lie flat on your back and lift your legs smoothly and slowly up as straight as possible.  Stop when you are perpendicular to your body and then come back down for one.

*** floor runs start in a raised push-up position.  You will drive your knees up towards your chest and alternate legs in a simulated running fasion.
