The Sad Tale Of Brian Mandeville

This story broke my heart, because it’s just about a guy who was trying to make it, live out his dream of playing in the NFL, came “this” close and was told that his dream was impossible.

This isn’t a case about beating the odds and overcoming. This is about fate intervening. Brian Mandeville beat the odds. He played football at a college not known for its football prowess and stood out enough to get noticed and invited to the NFL combine.

Then, as the medical staff were performing routine check-ups, Mandeville was told that his NFL dreams wouldn’t become a reality after all.

Mandeville has a heart condition, which isn’t life threatening, but is career-ending. Which makes me wonder, if his career is going to end even before it begins, shouldn’t he take that risk anyway?

Either way, my heart goes out to Brian Mandeville.
