The Simpsons Movie

Here i was busy tracking down various Simpsons tie-ins and I find that it’s already being done. So I point you across to Rohit Bhargava’s list (via Agency Spy).

The range of promotions is impressive; whatever your preferred interaction point there will be something for you. They’ve even created a site for you to find everything, over at seeyellow.com. You can see Mr Burns taking over the Jet Blue blog

You’ve got it all backwards, Blue Boy. Smithers says you provide DIRECTV and Fox films on all your flights. Moving pictures and talkies on a flying machine… What’s next, a live performance by famed vaudevillian Baby Rose Marie?

USA Today is running a contest for a city to be voted the official Springfield and the get the premier – and the cities are jumping in with marketing to support their choice (ie JWT Chicago helping the Illinois town)

And for the biggest fans, you could win an appearance in an episode in conjunction with 7-11. Tied into buying the special merchandise of course.

Considering the film is out in a couple of weeks, the main site seems to be less complete than expected. Only one location is open, everything else is ‘coming soon’, even the Kwik-mart stuff, which have out in the wild for over a week.

The Simpsons is a huge tie-in opportunity and much of it is online; this is the same with many of the entertainment properties that are coming out on both film and tv. A growing trend that has lots of potential.
