The Three Stooges Collection Vol. 6

On rainy days, when I was young, I would sit inside of my grandmother’s house and watch reruns of The Three Stooges instead of moping about the weather.  I couldn’t tell you what the episodes or called or the three stoogeseven describe too many details for you but I can say that I remember being entertained.  That show was about more than just cheap laughs and I will always think of it fondly.

If you feel the same way, you might be interested in picking up a copy of The Three Stooges Collection, Vol. 6: 1949-1951 which is being released today.

The set includes 24 digitally remastered shorts from 1949-1951.  These clips feature Shemp as the third Stooge (he took over after Curly became too ill to carry on).

There are some classic goodies to enjoy including “Merry Mavericks” (1951), “Phony Express” (1943), “Self Made Maids” (1950) and “Don’t Throw that Knife” (1951).

These characters truly are timeless.  The Farrelly brothers have a remake in the works starring Jim Carrey (Curly), Sean Penn (Larry) and Benecio Del Toro (Moe) which is expected to hit theaters some time in 2010.  Does Sean Penn even have enough of a sense of humor to pull this off?  I guess I’ll have to wait and see!
