The Top 4 Upcoming Fighters

The fighting genre has seen somewhat of a resurgence lately, with games like Soul Calibur IV and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix bringing people back into the virtual ring. In the next few months there are several interesting fighters being released on Sony’s platforms. So in this weeks edition of the Top 5, we take a look at the games that have us most excited. Unfortunately, we could only come up with 4 :(
4. Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Handheld fighting games don’t have the best track record, but there is a lot to be excited for in Dissidia if you’re a Final Fantasy fan. The game pits characters from all 12 games in the franchise, allowing you to enact battles that were once only possible in elaborate fan fiction. Ever wanted to know who would win if Squall and Cloud got into a scrap? Sephiroth versus Gabranth? Well, now you can.
3. The King of Fighters XII

Despite the onslaught of 3D fighters flooding the market, there really is nothing better than a great looking 2D brawler. Much like SSF2THDR, the upcoming King of Fighters XII will feature incredibly detailed, hand drawn 2D visuals. The result is the game looks absolutely stunning in motion.
2. Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion

Though the game was announced not too long ago, it’s hard not to be excited for a new Tekken game. The console version will be slightly altered from the upcoming arcade edition, though in what way we still don’t know. What is known is that the game will feature online multiplayer matches, new gameplay innovations, and a massive cast of 42 fighters. Now we just need a release date.
1. Street Fighter IV

The latest entry in arguably the most popular fighting franchise will bring Street Fighter back to its roots. The game will stick with the 2D style that made it so poopular, reduce its cast to (mostly) familiar faces, and simplify the overcomplicated gameplay that plagued SFIII. The result looks great, and should be on the wish list of every fighting game fan out there. Get ready to get your hadoken-on in February
