This year, I want to start of my blog with optimism that big things can happen to someone who starts small…
Mr. Trump might not be the most successful real estate businessman in the world but he is one of the most famous. I believe that his life story is a very good example of someone who really made it big time! Afterall, one of his quotes is:
"I like thinking big. If you’re going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big."
Donald Trump is the very definition of the American success story.
He was the son of a successful developer of rent-controlled and low-income housing in Queens and Brooklyn, New York.
As a young kid, he was described as mischievous and aggressive. He attended military school during his high school years.
He first started college at Fordham in the Bronx, New York to be close to home. However, he later transferred to the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was attracted to its focus on entrepreneurship.
His real estate career started in an office with his father in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, New York.
Donald Trump was quoted saying " My father was my mentor, and I learned a tremendous amount about every aspect of the construction industry from him."
One of his projects with his father was buying a troubled complex in Cincinnati which he fixed and sold for a multi-million dollar profit.
He did have a good head start with his father’s guidance and influence, but because of his personal drive and motivation he was able to achieve greater things. He surpassed his father’s success and with his own merits established a name for himself in the field of real estate.
He aspiration for bigger things, encouraged him to move from Brooklyn, New York to a small studio apartment in Manhattan, New York. He took the risk and went beyond his comfort zone. It is there that he progressed from closing small deals to bigger ones.
Some of his notable achievements were:
Trump Tower is a world renowned skyscraper located in 5th Avenue, New York.
Trump Palace is one his many luxury residential buildings. It is the tallest building on Manhattan’s east side.
Trump International Hotel and Tower located in Central Park, New York. It is one of the three in the United States to have recieved a double Mobil five-star rating for both its hotel and restaurant Jean-Georges.
One of the most remarkable things with Donald Trump is he is personally involved with everything that his name represents.
He has set new standards of excellence in real estate in his luxury residential buildings, office buildings, hotels, championship golf clubs while expanding interests in gaming and entertainment.
