The World Ends With Review
GameTrailers’ review for Square-Enix’s The World Ends With You is pretty spot-on. I’m enjoying the game immensely, though that might have something to do with the fact that I’m very sick and on some pretty freaky meds. Combined with the surreal tribal theme of the game’s battles, it makes for a pretty life-affirming experience.
Still, the review brings up a good point about trend-setting; isn’t it a little shallow to have pin brand that are popular in some parts of Shibuya and not others? Yes and no. It’s true you’ll suffer if you wear a loser pin in an area that doesn’t look fondly upon the brand, but you’re encouraged to “Make your own Shibuya” by being the trend setter for that area.
I know nothing about clothes. If I go outside with pants on, it’s a good day. But I kind of like the fashion element in The World Ends With You. It’s suitable for a game that takes place in one of the prominent fashion districts of the world. I do have one more opinion that’s contrary to the review: I don’t mind how “small” Shibuya is. The game is very different from the norm, but keeping within a confined space makes the environment feel controlled rather than overwhelming.
Judge for yourself.
