The Year of the Upsets?

The year 2008 has brought about some funny things on the tennis circuit. The latest in a long line is the upset of Novak Djokovic by Kevin Anderson at the Sony Ericsson Open.

Kevin Anderson? I faintly remember hearing his name awhile back but it’s kind of a common name. Nothing really stands out about it. Maybe I got him confused with the mailman or something.

Anyway – Anderson pulled out a big upset. Huge. Djokovic is a top player, and he’s been pretty consistent so far this season which makes Anderson’s accomplishment that much more impressive. I mean – if it had been Roger Federer – it would have been much less surprising given his recent showing on the court, don’tchya think?

Oh by the way, Anderson is 6-foot-7, hits 135 mph serves and has good footwork. No wonder Djoko had problems.
