I was in the middle of posting an item when I browsed to a page that had a Real Player window on it.
Apparently my version of Real Player hasn’t been updated lately (maybe because it’s so intrusive, I avoid using it). Real then informed me it was updating my reader, so my browser would shut down (no opt out). Next, all my windows closed.
I can’t find anything on the Real Networks site, describing their policy of commandeering people’s computers, so this must be a value-added, undocumented feature.
Thanks, RealNetworks! Next stop: Control Panel > Add/Remove Software > Real Player.
You can’t buy consumer recommendations like this: DO NOT USE REAL PLAYER!

There is REALly nothing good about this software, is there? I can’t remember the last time I saw a good story about this product…yet it still seems to hang around and do dumb stuff like this. Annoying doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Why yes, I’m a bit annoyed. Does it show?
:)
I just want to help RealNetworks spread the news about their products’ customer experience.
