This Writer’s Going For A Kneeling Chair!

Most of you know I’ve got some back problems. For several years I’ve been doing my writing standing at the computer, but that hasn’t been as comfortable as it was.

I was talking with my new chiropractor yesterday and he’s all in favor of the kneeling chair. This makes sense to be for two reasons. A long long time ago I used one and, as I recall, I was quite comfortable. Also, most of my sitting meditation, which is often an hour at a time, is actually done on my knees, and that works.

So I’m off to buy a kneeling chair. I’ll let you know how well it works, or doesn’t.

I’ve got a mesh backed uberchair. It’s awesome. Used to use the kneeling ones but it actually gave me a bad back, and hurt my knees (I have Osgood-Schlatters syndrome). Chair fail.

    uberchair? is that a brand?

Anne, I’ve been thinking about a kneeling chair as well. Came close to getting one last year at work, but got pregnant before I could buy one. Decided it wouldn’t be good then, and just never went back to buy one.

I’ve also been afraid that it would bother my knees. Did you notice any stiffness in your knees when you used one?

(You should be able to find a nice one at the Healthy Back store – it’s where I was looking.)

Becky, Healthy Back is exactly where I got mine.., the jobri 1420… metal with two knee pads. Thought about getting the one with the hydorolic lift, but realized once I got it set I probably wouldn’t change it… will move the computer/screen after meditation this morning and give it a try.

I don’t remember problems with my knees before… we shall see. When I meditate on my knees I sometimes have to stretch out my knees, but after some practice knees haven’t been a problem. I’ll let you know.

A few years ago my back went out leaving me unable to stand up straight or sit for more than a few minutes. I was on deadline and panicked. I went to the local office furniture store and found a kneeler chair for $50. Still using it. No more back trouble. For long days of writing, I alternate with a backless stool. I’m new to this site. Good stuff. Looking for ideas that will help me spruce up my new website.

now that I’ve had the kneeling chair a couple of days, I’m realizing I do like it, and… I’ve got to take regular breaks… when I get caught up in my writing I forget ;)
