Thomson Hotel Reviews
As any regular traveller and web user will know, looking up other’s experiences of the airline, hotel or resort is a great way of seeing a more realistic picture than the vendors site. I’ve tended to use Trip Advisor as my first port of call to check out hotels, looking at the whole range of reports to see if the place would be right for me. You know you are always going to get extreme negatives and extreme positives in any large set, but taking all of them into consideration lets you decide whatever the glossy photos and prose may say.
Imagine my surprise though to day when looking at Thomson, a UK holiday company. They’ve not stayed blinded to the reality of a read-write web where anyone can put a review of a company or holiday online for all to read. They encourage people to add their own reviews to the hotel pages BUT they also provide the reader with the Trip Advisor ratings and reviews as well, on the same page. So you get a wider range of comments that you can be sure have never gone past a Thomson eye to decide whether or they want a critique on their page.
I love it – this has to spur the company to improve service and pick hotels that are great. By including these external uncensored comments, the company recognises that this behaviour is taking place, unlike some who just want to ignore it in the hope that it will all go away at some point. Points to Thomson for this.
