Three bullets

• University of Houston women’s basketball coach Joe Curl suffered a heart attack last weekend and will undergo bypass surgery later this week. Curl will be away from the team for an indefinite period of time. Assistant coach Danny Hughes will take over the team.

• Senior guard Katie Antony has left the team to focus on her pursuit of a career in medicine. “Coach [Van] Chancellor and I sat down and talked about my future and the importance of me meeting my career goals and he was very supportive,” Antony said. “I will leave the LSU women’s basketball program with a lot of great memories and life lessons and always be proud that I am a Lady Tiger.” Antony is scheduled to graduate from LSU with a communications studies degree and will attend medical school later.

• The Associated Press issued an advisory today about the release of the AP Preseason college poll and the Preseason All-American Team. The poll will be released Saturday and the All-American team will be released on Nov. 6. When I have them, so will you.
