When marketing, it’s important to follow local, state and federal laws. If you don’t, you could find yourself in the hot water — as VoiceTouch, Transcontinental Warranty and Network Foundations can attest.
These three companies broke numerous rules by robo-calling random phone numbers in an attempt to sell car warranties. According to a few reports, these three companies were responsible for more than one billion calls that resulted in approximately $10 million in revenue.
On Friday, a judge placed a restraining order on VoiceTouch, Transcontinental Warranty and Network Foundations to force the trio of marketing companies to stop the robo-calls. Additionally, the judge ordered that the three companies had their financial assets frozen.
Not only were the corporations named in the orders, but so were the people behind the corporations – James Dunne and Maureen Dunne (VoiceTouch), Christopher Cowart (Transcontinental Warranty) and Damian Kohlfeld (Network Foundations).
Among the rules that were broken were dialing the random numbers, hiding the originating numbers and the misrepresentation of the car warranties.

We have gotten these calls for months, and it’s been quite annoying. We are on the do not call list, so it has been frustrating and we’ve been wondering who these people were, but didn’t want to be on the phone waiting to find out. I always hung up when they called.
