Another item keep your eyes out for at thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales – Griswold cast iron skillets. Authentic Griswold is true vintage – some of you may have some of them in your kitchen already.

The Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, PA manufactured this cast iron cookware between 1865 and the 1950’s. You can find skillets, muffin pans, roasting pans, dutch ovens, kettles, and waffle irons. Look for the cross and the Griswold logo on the bottom or back of each piece. See the photo below.

Authentic Griswold pieces can sell for hundreds of dollars on eBay, depending on the condition and the type. So next time you are browsing through the pots and pans at a thrift store or garage sale, pick up the iron skillet and look for the cross. Maybe you’ll get lucky.
