Sure, he’s smiling…on the outside.
I didn’t actually see much of the Buick Invitational; January just seems too early to be watching golf. (Plus, Tiger had such an insurmountable lead going into the final day, there would be even less drama than usual.) But before heading out to see There Will Be Blood — which was finally released to us dullards in the fly-over states — my friend and I stopped for some sandwiches. While eating our subs, we saw something I never expect to see again in my life. Tiger Woods bogeyed three straight holes. For the 14th, 15th, and 16th holes of Torrey Pines on Sunday, Tiger Woods was three over par. Sure, Tiger birdied the 18th, and finished at one under for the day, but whatever. He bogeyed three straight holes. What the hell, Tiger? I thought you were good at this golf stuff. Enjoy your hollow victory.
