Apple released updates for Time Machine and Aiport a few days ago and according to Mac Rumors some of its readers are writing in to say that you can now backup wirelessly to an Airport Extreme Base Station with an external USB drive attached.
Now this is certainly a good thing. An Airport Extreme with Gigabit Ethernet costs $179. You can buy a external drive such as a Lacie 500gb external drive for $115 at Comp USA. That totals to $294. That’s 5 dollars cheaper than the 500GB Time Capsule and you can even get more savings by getting a bigger hard drive.
Certainly something to consider. Check out the story here.

hi,
i cannot open the yahoo messenger in my macbook, can you pls share the correct network set up? like the bypass proxy setting, web proxy ftp proxy, and secure web proxy?
Hi sassy,
Can you be more specific? Does YM work on other connections? Or it doesn’t want to connect on all connections? If you’re in the office, YM might be blocked by your administrator.
i’m not using an office network, i’m using a broadband at home. YM works in vista but not in leopard, i’m using a bootcamp.
Ok, first off could you try downloading the latest version of Yahoo Messenger for Mac. See if that helps. here’s the url http://messenger.yahoo.com/mac.php
i have installed the latest version and it’s not working either. I am getting this message “The application could not connect to messenger servers.”
pls help troubleshoot my problem.
i really appreciate your help.
thanks.
Hmmm. that’s odd, do you only have trouble connecting through your home network? Are you able to connect on another network?
yes. i can connect to msn messenger, skype and ichat but not to YM.
Hmmm.. I don’t know why you can’t connect to YM. Let me look into this. It’s kinda hard if you’re not viewing it but let me check nonetheless.
