Time For A Mid Year Business Goal Check

July 18, 2009 by Linette Gerlach

Many small business owners sit down and write out goals around the beginning of the year. Everyone is talking about goals for the new year in December and January, then you don’t hear much more about it the rest of the year.photoxpress_2825797-3

If you haven’t set any goals, why not start now? You don’t have to wait until January for goal setting. Starting mid year with some short term goals is better than having no goals at all for your small business.

If you did set some goals back in January, now is a great time to revisit those goals and see how your doing. Consider it a mid-year goal checkup.

Take a look at where you are on achieving your short term and long term goals.

  • Have you met your daily, weekly, monthly goals so far? If not why not?
  • If you’re meeting your goals, give yourself a pat on the back, and remind yourself what your goals are for the rest of the year.
  • If you’re not meeting your goals, look at what you can do to meet them, or do you need to change your goals?
  • Were the goals you set realistic, and attainable?
  • Take a look at your goals for the rest of the year. Now is a great time to adjust them if they need adjusted.
  • Make sure your goals are specific, and can be measured.

Now is a great time to reflect on the first half of the year, and determine if the goals you set are being met.

Maybe you set those goals on January 1st then got busy and  haven’t looked at them since, it’s good to at least remind yourself where you want to be.
