Tired of Whistling While You Work? Win an iPod Shuffle from Biz Chicks Rule!

That’s right, girls, I’m giving away an iPod shuffle to one lucky Biz Chicks Rule reader.
Music helps me get through the workday, and I’m lucky enough to be able to work on my own computer in my own office, where I can have as many music files as I want and crank the volume as high as I like. Sadly, not everyone is so lucky. And since I have an unopened iPod shuffle just lying around, I feel it is my duty to spread music to the working world.
So! Here’s how it works:
- Visit your favorite women’s business blog Biz Chicks Rule and locate the contest post. (You’re already here — good job!)
- Leave a comment stating your favorite song, band, or album to listen to while working and why it’s/they’re your favorite by the deadline of 11:59 pm ET on Sunday, July 13, 2008.
- Each comment will be assigned a number in order and I will enter the numbers into the sequence randomizer at Random.org to select a winner. The first eligible comment in the sequence will be the winner. Trackbacks, duplicates, my and Bridget’s comments, and comments where people did not follow the directions are NOT eligible. Everyone else, including other b5 bloggers will be eligible.
- I’ll announce the winner in a post and via e-mail on July 15.
IMPORTANT RULES
- Winners must be US residents. You can share your favorite music if you’re outside the US, but I will not ship the iPod Shuffle outside of the United States, even if you offer to pay me back for postage. Not happening. US only. If you are outside the US and are commenting just for fun, PLEASE say in your comment that you are not entering the contest. It will save a lot of trouble.
- You must provide your real e-mail address in the comment form. If you don’t give your real e-mail address in the e-mail field, I can’t notify you of your prize.
- You must follow the directions. In other words, if you don’t say your favorite song/band/album for work, you are not eligible. "I want to win!" does not count. No exceptions. I’ll approve your comment so we can all laugh at you, but you will not win even if your number comes up.
- You do not have to be a Biz Chick to win. Yes, Biz Dudes are also eligible. No gender discrimination here!
- You must be willing to provide your full name and mailing address within 48 hours of notification if you win. If I don’t hear back from you in 48 hours, I’ll pick another winner and you are out of luck.
- Only one entry per person. And yes, I do check IP addresses.
I’ll go first. I can do mindless work to any music, but if I’m concentrating, it has to be music I know really, really well or I get distracted listening to the lyrics. Here’s what’s on my must-stay-focused playlist right now:

I love C&W music, so listening to Tracy Lawrence, Mindy McCready, or Wade Hays are just a few of my favs! I could go on and on, but 3 is enough. : )

My favorite working album is Footloose..
I used to crank it up and do my house work.
Many times it came up missing because my kids would hide it.
I love listening to the Juno soundtrack while I work. It is calming and helps me stay focused. I would also recommend listening to Anberlin and Acceptance. Two amazing bands!!

I listen to Sade and Sarah Maclaglan cos I know all the lyrics and its cool and stuff like Mark Knoffler, Sting, Leona Lewis, mostly Brits.
and quite often the radio station Virgin Rock on the radio.
I really love listening to Casting Crowns when I work for the inspiration it gives me!
Where I work country rules the roost. To stay true to my metal roots I pop in my ear buds and listen to my favorite band, Blind Guardian. Nothing inspires me more or makes me work harder than listening to songs inspired by my favorite literature. Be it JRR Tolkien or Stephen King, Blind Guardian has me covered. What’s better than escaping to a fantasy world while you work?
I love the new kid rock song. I think it’s called All Summer Long. It’s easy listening and reminds me of summer.
Definitely Tori Amos. The music is so varied that it’s impossible to get bored!

Broken Social Scene’s album, “You Forgot it in People”. It’s just got some very good vibes. There is the perfect mix of fast and slow songs, and each one has a special meaning for me, especially “Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl”.
My favorite album is James’ album “Seven.” It’s been an overall favorite, for the rich emotional content and beautiful melodies.
The Grateful Dead always keeps me going while I work. There are some great free podcasts too I would like to check out.
Depends on what I’m doing, I guess. If I’m really trying hard to concentrate on something then I like to listen to either classical music or just instrumental in general. Otherwise, my favorites are anything by Tori Amos, Creed, or Daughtry. :)
I love putting in the album Monster Ballads while I’m working or anything from the 70s or 80s will do the trick. In my opinion the music was just so much better than it is now.
MY favorite band to listen to is Dave Del Monte and the Cross County Boys. Just listening to his cool rockabilly sound makes me smile and get motivated! Of course, I love it even more because I am married to Dave Del Monte, and it is WICKED cool to be hearing your honey out of the radio! My favorite is BLue Moon of Kentucky.

My favorite song is “My Best Friend” by Tim MaGraw,I stop in my tracks when I hear this song , its my life and I feel the same about the man in my life as the song. He is my best friend and is there for me.Count me in to win this great prize

Pink Floyd, Dark side of the moon. I’ve seen them in concert 3 times, my all time favorite group, and album!
My favorite singer is Chris Daughtry.
I never watch american idol, my children talked me into watching one audition and it happened to be Chris. I instantly fell in love with his voice and his passion in whatever he sang. I have seen him in concert and he’s still got talent.
Another plus is he is always caring for and a really great husband and father even since becoming famous he shows he cares.
I would love to win so that I could listen where ever I go. Also my daughter is in cross country and runs 3 – 6 miles a day and has been asking for a ipod for her runs.

My favorite artist is Kelly Sweet! She started singing with nothing to lose. She has the most amazing clear voice that is powerful. She has started her career with a dream of she getting out there and touching a person. She started singing in nursing homes! Isn’t that just awesome? She is also classically trained!!

I listen to play soundtracks like Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd or Les Miserables to keep me going.

As long as nobody is judging, I’ll admit I’m a big Backstreet Boys fan. We listen to the radio all day long at work, but when a BSB song comes on, my co-workers have to remind me not to sing so loudly! :-)

While working I like listening Weather Report. My favorite song is Jungle Book from the Mysterious Traveller Album. I also listen to a any electronia music, I find it energizing.

I always like to listen to pop music especially Rihanna songs when I’m at work because her songs especially the ones with the faster beats usually make me feel more energized. My favorite song I use to listen to all the time at this one job(until I got layed off) was Madonna, Music. Man when that would come on it would just make my night working!! Although any kind of music at work is great, no music, downer of a night.
