When New England Patriots Tom Brady went down with a knee injury on Sunday, everybody hoped for the best. But according to New York Jets players, Brady tore his ACL - a possible season-ending injury.

Tom Brady InjuredTom Curran of NBC Sports reports that Jets players were saying in the locker room after their win over the Dolphins Sunday that they heard Brady tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

“Everybody I talked to said it’s a torn ACL,” said one Jets player. “Players AND coaches. When we came in here that’s what people were saying, ‘Brady’s got a torn ACL.’ ”

Of course this is all speculation, so Patriots fans shouldn’t flip out yet. It doesn’t seem logical that the Jets players would be the ones who know the latest news.

Brady suffered the injury to his left knee during the first quarter when he was hit by Kansas City safety Bernard Pollard.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick only said in his post game comments, “I don’t have any update on Tom. They’re looking at him, doing some tests on him. I don’t have any information yet. Not that anybody would be interested in that.”

Thanks for the (lack of) info, Bill!

Stay tuned for more updates as we hear anything!

***UPDATE on 9/8 from Jodie: A sad day in Patriots nation with the news that Tom Brady is indeed out for the season with a torn ACL. David Kindervater of b5 media’s Every Morning Quarterback reports the rumor that retiree-of-several days Daunte Culpepper may chat it up with the New England Patriots.
