Tom McEvoy Wins a Corvette; Russ Hamilton

Tom McEvoy can now be called a champion among champions.  McEvoy was the sole survivor among a group of 20 past WSOP main event champions and for winning he will be the recipient of a Classic 1970 Corvette and Binion’s Trophy Cup.  I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have some gold, diamonds, or cold hard cash.

Amazingly, I haven’t been able to dig up much on the Russ Hamilton apparent no-show.  I did find some interesting snippets though.  First, Hamilton’s portrait has been hidden behind an escalator (not sure how long).  Second, there is another giant picture of Russ currently on display in media row.

Also from Doyle Brunsons Twitter page, twitter.com/TexDolly:

my understanding is Russ isn’t welcome. Convicted without a trail..probably true, but one never knows.

One take from this blogger: If you’re going to go so far as to obviously hide his poster or photo, why not just take it down?  Doyle is right that he was convicted without a trial in the communal opinion of poker, but it’s a lot more righteous when someone never takes a stand and says no I didn’t do it.
