Tons of games on, but I’m going to the beach

There are a bajillion college basketball games on this weekend since we’re finished with college football and that whole BCS mess.

Just who won the national championship anyway? If you’re out here in Southern California, USC says it did. In the rocky mountains Utah says it did as did Texas in the southwest. I’m told that Florida won something they call a “national championship game” against Oklahoma.

Seems like everyone but Duke is claiming a share of the national championship.

Anyway, back to what I’m paid to write about – college basketball.

There are enough games on to make everyone from Division I on down hysterical. But I won’t be checking out any of them today.

It’s 80 degrees here in Long Beach, CA on January 11. Do you think I’m going to sit inside in front of a TV all day?

I’m heading to the beach with my wife and kid! I’ll check scores on my Blackberry from an outdoor coffeehouse later today and get back to you if something important happens.

I’ll come home later this evening when it gets cooler and check out some of the North Carolina at Wake Forest and UCLA at USC games.

And to think my family and I are moving to Colorado Springs later this year.
