On Friday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen. Earlier in the month, Tony Dungy retired from the head coaching position with the Indianapolis Colts. Combine these two news items and you can get the perfect marriage.
A large reason for why Dungy retired is due to him wanting to be around his family more often. Guess where his family lives? That’s right, Tampa.
Obviously being an NFL head coach takes up a lot of time and Dungy has said he wants to make a clean break from the coaching grind, but if he’s ever going to return this is the perfect opportunity. The fans still love him from his previous coaching stint with the team, there are quality players on the team and he can help in the search for the next general manager.
As for the Bucs, they have to be interested in Dungy. He’s one of the most highly regarded coaches of this generation. He’d bring instant credibility to the team and he has almost a perfect record of coaching his teams into the playoffs.
Stay tuned to see if this perfect marriage takes place.

Keep us Posted! I moved from Tampa to Indiana at the same time Tony did. As a Bucs season ticket holder and remain so today, I have been a fan of Tony and his Quiet Strength. Living up here these past 7 years, I have learned to be a Colts fans as well. Why? Because of Tony. I think he got a raw deal from the Glasers and I think they owe him. Gruden rode his shirt tail to a Super Bowl victory. I am not taking anything away from John, as I admire him as well. He should consider Notre Dame. They could use him and he grew up here. I think we all need to rally and get Tony back. After all, his blood, sweat and tears are in Tampa. This is his home.
