Top 10 Features in SQL Server 2008

Dan Rigsby (@danrigsby) shared some slides of information including his Top 10 Features of SQL Server 2008 at the IndyNDA meeting in Indianapolis, IN.

  1. LINQ
  2. Intellisense for SQL Server
  3. FileStream Datatype
  4. Date & Time Datatype
  5. DateTime2 & DateTimeOffset Datatype
  6. Hierarchical Datatype: i.e. org charts
  7. Spatial Datatype: geography, geometry
  8. T-SQL merge
  9. Table-Valued parameters: pass entire table into a stored procedure 
  10. Data Change Tracking: log all changes to data into a specific tracking table. Potentially use in offline client synchronization
