I don’t think I can pick the best of the top 10 posts about freelance writing! Take Deb Ng’s, for example: Freelance Writing: Not Everyone Can Do It.
Oh how true. And having writing skill is only part of the formula. Deb knows her stuff.
Of her list, I think I resonate most with: You have to be able to find enough work to survive.

I’m a big fan of “writing takes talent.” I’ve discovered, much to my dismay, that there are some freelance writers out there that are actually being pretty successful at getting lots of jobs without necessarily being all that great at the actual writing part. I was not prepared for that when I started this venture. I’m curious to continue watching and see what ebcomes of them.
One of the newer areas of writing is search engine optimization… and often it seems people are more concerned with search terms than making sense to readers… I suspect that will pass… in fact, although I can’t prove it, it seems the cost of seo writing is creeping up and my hunch is it’s because of the need for better writing.
