BusinessWeek and Interbrand have compiled their annual list of the top 100 global brands, and the results are not surprising for 2007. In fact, there are few significant changes within the list.
The top 10 global brands for 2007 are:
- Coca-Cola
- Microsoft
- IBM
- GE
- Nokia
- Toyota
- Intel
- McDonald’s
- Disney
- Mercedes-Benz
The top 10 are the same in 2007 as 2006 with three small changes. Intel dropped from #5 to #7 and McDonald’s and Disney swapped positions. Brands showing the biggest position losses are Ford dropping 11 places to #41 and Kodak dropping 12 places to #82.
These brands are as big as it gets. Where does a brand like Coca-Cola who sits at the top spot for the seventh year in a row go next? How do you grow your brand further when it’s already omnipresent? Everyone else can aspire to chase down the top of the pack, but can the leaders’ efforts only injure their brands? On the other hand, the list is also a wake up call to brands who aren’t focused and are clearly losing ground.
What do you think about the Top 100 Global Brands of 2007? This list is based on publicly available data, but I’d be interested to hear some more subjective opinions, too.

I’m surprised Google isn’t closer to the top. Same with Amazon and other online companies. Mozilla / Firefox didn’t even make the list.
Doug, I was also surprised that Google wasn’t ranked higher.
