Top tip: How to avoid phone spam
Run, don’t walk and get yourself a ‘private phone number!’ I’ve been using my own private phone number for months and everything NetZero says about is true
:
- it’s 100% free, easy to use
- you get your own phone number
- all incoming calls are recorded for you to call back later

- you also receive the phone number, time of day, etc
- and you can have these calls routed to your email if you want

- or you can get them via a regular phone
- fully customizable with your own voice
I use my private phone number for volunteer work.
Rules to keep your personal phone number private:
- never publish it on the web
- never publish it in the phone book
- give it out to trusted friends and workers only
- sass back at the telemarketers so they won’t call you again
- Junkbusters helps you figure out if that telemarketing call was illegal. Make ‘em pay with a hefty fine if it was!
The web is a two-edged sword. It keeps us sane with services like PrivatePhone;
it drives us crazy with services like ‘call-em-all.’
Pick your poison. Jason at Uncover The Internet has a tip to help you reach lots of people: not by email, by phone!
