Toronto Star Kills Star P.M.

A year ago, the Toronto Star launched something called Star P.M. – a downloadable daily newspaper that appeared in the afternoon. The idea, I think, was that you could print it for the commute home – provided you weren’t drive because reading and driving usually don’t mix. :) – or read it on your mobile device.

To be honest, it was a strange offering because the world is moving toward digital/online. Still, newspapers need to innovate and experiment so the Star should get some credit for trying something different, even if it didn’t make much sense.

Anyway, the Star P.M. experiment is now over. The last issue will be Oct. 17. People who actually used Star P.M. – and there could have been that many of them – are being told to read the Web site.

Hat tip to Toronto Mike for highlighting Star P.M.’s demise. Editor & Publisher has a story about Star P.M. as well.
