The Toyota Prius Hybrid is the most fuel efficient car for North American markets. At 4.0 L/100 km (71 mpg) in the City and 4.2 L/100 km (67 mpg) on the Highway it’s every environmentalists dream come true.

The Prius Hybrid might also be the most high tech car out there right now. In the case of most hybrid cars the gas engine kicks in when the car reaches a certain speed. This is because studies have shown that the car burns more fuel during the 0 – 30 mph mark. However, with the Prius the car can be switched to become a fully electric vehicle (EV) using the gas engine only if needed (like charging the battery).

The Prius has a few innovative designs to help bypass the problems of electric cars. Like the fully electric air-conditioner/heating core unit. Do ask me how this works though. I do know that the air-conditioner can work with an electric pump similar to a refrigerator, but a electric heater core would have to be awfully power draining for the battery.

The keyless car start feature is also really cool. all you have to do is carry a bluetooth key that automatically unlocks the doors when you approach your car and allows you to start the vehicle with just the push of a button.

Watch the video for more information on all of the cool features on the news Toyota Prius Hybrid 2009.
