Trent Green, who spent 15 years in the NFL, recently let be known that he is ready to retire from the NFL. According to Fox Sports, the 38-year-old quarterback won’t be coming back for another season.

Appropriately, Green announced his retirement through his former coach Dick Vermeil. Green’s decision was made on Friday morning.

While with the Kansas City Chiefs under Vermeil, Green had the best seasons of his NFL career. In 2004, he had 4,591 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns.

For his career, Green had 28,475 passing yards, 162 touchdowns, 114 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 86.

After leaving the Chiefs, Green played with the Miami Dolphins in 2007 and the St. Louis Rams last year.

As told to Fox Sports, Green said: “I feel this is finally the right time. I’ve talked about it with (my family) for a while, especially with the concussions over the last few years. We all felt it was the time to do it.”
