Turin or Torino? Allow me to help you out

I’ve been confused lately about the whole Turin/Torino thing. For the longest time I thought it was “Torino”, then I saw “Turin” poping up everywhere, so I started calling it that. Then I started seeing it referred to as “Torino” again.

If you’re a bit on the slow side like me, then allow me to help you out-

The “real” Italian name of the city is “Torino”. The American butchered version is “Turin”.

Normally it’s the other way around, with Americans having to add an extra vowel for some reason. But not here. It’s “Turino”.

If anyone is left doubting, then take a look at the official site, which is torino2006.org

Update: Me in all my brilliance messed it up. It’s Torino, not Turino…
