Two Corrections on BoneRack’s House O’ Poker

First of all, I keep forgetting that Pete’s game is BoneRack’s House O’ Poker. That needs to be addressed first. Second, I have an apology to make. In a previous post, I said I lost respect for someone’s game. This is way more critical than I intended to be and I want to make a 100% absolute uniquivocal apology on what was a mischaracterization on my part.
As you’ll see in the comment below the post, the player was a relative new comer and is consciously trying to work on their balance. They did play wreckless in one the hands I referred too, but to say I lost complete respect for her game was completely unfair. Futhermore, reflecting on the second hand, the push with a low Ace was not necessarily a bad move, especially when you consider that I did not raise pre-flop or show any real strength. You can also see in the post that I note I had never played with the player before so I obviously knew nothing about what I was saying beyond the two hands I referred to.
I’d also like to note that I too was once new to the game and played with much more wreckless abandon than this. Much worse play and I also probably wouldn’t have been aggressive enough to move with the pair of aces I mentioned above. Clearly there is much to be said for the power of aggressiveness in poker as aggressiveness is a common denominator of the great majority of top players around the world.
To be so critical of a newer player and a player I know so little about is frustrating for me as this is something I would not want to portray. It’s one thing to criticize the pros on their poker play, but its another to be critical on a new player still picking up the game – especially coming from someone who is no pro themselves (see: me). When you’re writing a blog everyday, you don’t always fully realize every word you’re writing yourself. This was the case here. Had I looked beyond the grammar on second glance, I obviously would have reworded a truer meaning into that particular passage.
