The Jimmy V Classic kicks off in about an hour with two games at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
At 4 p.m. Pacific Time, Associated Press number 23 ranked Davidson plays West Virginia, and No. 6 Texas plays No. 16 Villanova at 6:30 p.m. PST.
The games culminate Jimmy V Week and benefit the Jimmy V Foundation.
Most of you remember Jimmy Valvano as the coach of North Carolina State from 1980 to 1990. He and the Wolfpack won the 1983 NCAA championship.
Valvano was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1992 and died a year later.
The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research was established in 1993 by Valvano and ESPN and has raised more than $80 million.
This is a very good cause and is personal to me. I was diagnosed with a cancer called Multiple Myeloma in February 2005. It’s a plasma cell disease that effects the bones.
Please check out the foundation’s website to learn more and maybe contribute to the foundation.
