No problem with you using it. It is a great example; I’ve heard nothing from this to confirm if it was just misguided enthusiasm so, at the moment, I’m assuming it was deliberate.

I don’t think you;re out of line with your example – if friends have blogs why shouldn’t they write about a project their friend is doing. If they like it, they’d be talking about it. But disclosing the relationship is a mandatory.

Great example of how authenticity is highly valued in the blogging community! Thanks for sniffing this possible inauthentic blog comment out.
I’m going to use it, if you don’t mind, as an example of blog etiquette and of the perils of astroturfing for my small business bloggers. I was talking with one yesterday, drawing a line between the ‘yes, get everyone you know to blog actively about your project,’ and ‘no, they can’t pretend to be anything but what they are, which is supporters of your org’s project.’
Even there, I wondered, am I out of line?
