Tyson Gay, who set an American record earlier in the week when he qualified for the men’s 100m event, fell to the ground and had to be carried off of the track at the US Olympic qualifying meet in Eugene, Oregon during a men’s 200m quarter-final race.
The extent of his injury and his availibity for the Olympic Games in Beijing are unknown at this point.
Update: Doctors and Gay have announced that he suffered a severe cramp. He should be able to compete in the 100m event in Beijing, but he’s out of the 200m competition.

No way. Tyson was dominate in the 200. Say it ain’t so. Isn’t there some special exemption to apply for or a bribe the judge thing?
yeah, the American system of qualifying is all about “what did you do today.” It doesn’t take into account that Gay’s arguably the fastest man in the world. Very disappointing.
The reason why Tyson Gay is injured is simply because he was over working himself. He knew if Usain Bolt in the form that he is in there will be no Gold medals for him both in the 100 and 200 meter events in Bejing. The man of the moment now is Bolt from Jamaica.
