UFC 2009 Undisputed was released earlier this week and, from the screenshots, it looks like pretty realistic fighting game. The graphics look amazing, the extensive roster includes some of the world’s beat mixed martial arts fighters and, as them, players will get to fight it out in the world famous Octagon.
It seems like they put a lot of effort into getting this right for the UFC fans. The characters are modeled closely after their real-life counterparts, so much so that they breathe, sweat and move like the real thing! You’ll also be able to choose from a number of mixed martial arts disciplines, including Judo, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
I really don’t play these types of games very often but after looking at these screenshots, I’m thinking of giving it a try this weekend.

I got this on Wednesday but I haven;t really had a chance to play it, except for a few minutes of the tutorial. They’ve put a lot of effort in to this one and it’s not for the button mashers that think they are just going to be able to continuously hit a button or two and win. There’s a lot of controller use in this one. I hope to get some time with it this weekend and start kicking some ass.
Ok. I hate this game. Because A) I’m not very good at it (just yet) and B) it’s NOT easy. You have to memorize so many different variations of movement. This doesn’t mean that I can’t do it, but for someone that doesn’t play a lot of video games because of time, it’s going to take awhile to get used to. So far I am 0-2 in career mode.
Ouch. This does look like one of those games that will take a lot of practice, especially if you don’t play a lot. I have the same problem with sports games. I have such a hard time getting into the right groove with all the combo moves and stuff that it can be really discouraging. I mostly play quest type games so I am sure UFC would be near impossible for me to play without screaming.
Thanks for the update. I hope it gets better!!!
