Understand Why your Customers Choose You

Dawud Miracle has a good example of some store owners who didn’t understand why their store was so popular with its customers.

Patagonia vest - not just for mountain climbers When times were good, the store rode the popularity and big sales that it stumbled upon.

But when there was a downturn, the store had alienated its best customers. They just wanted to buy comfortable, stylish Patagonia gear, not become extreme outdoors enthusiasts.

The moral of this story? Dig beneath your assumptions to find out what your best customers value about your business. See what’s really there, not what you think is there.
