Upgrade at Anytime?

This post mirrors one over on the Microsoft Weblog because it deals with the upgrade potential of both the Windows Vista operating system as well as Office 2007.
It looks like a single CD will contain the full source code for all versions of each product. This will allow a user to upgrade their product at anytime by going to a Microsoft partner website and purchasing a license key for the upgrade and then be prompted to enter their original CD for the upgrade to complete with the needed components.
Makes me wonder exactly how much difference there is between each version of the products. I’d be very interested in finding out exactly the difference in lines of code for each version.
What’s everyone’s expectation for upgrading? I will more than likely upgrade to Office 2007 and Vista as soon as financially possible for me. Let me know your intentions in the comments section.
