UPS and the University of Kentucky Team Up for the North American Solar Challenge

UPS and the University of Kentucky are now working together to compete in the North American Solar Challenge, a race from Plano, Texas to Calgary, Canada. Their car, called the Gato del Sol III will generate 1,200 watts of power with its 468 solar cells – that’s enough to make the car go up to 65 miles per hour.

UPS has really impressed my recently with their commitment to the environment. In May, they announced that they were purchasing 500 green vehicles to help make their fleet more environmentally-friendly.
