Urge BetaWhen you’ve got Windows Vista Build 5831, you also got the URGE! Urge is Microsoft’s new online music library ala iTunes. URGE will offer rich entertainment programming and innovative tools designed to guide musical discovery and connect fans to the artists and music they love. It will be offering more than 2 million songs from the major labels and thousands of independents and will also deliver a deep well of exclusive MTV Networks programming and original, hand-crafted content.

This new URGE Music Service, which is a collaboration between Microsoft, MTV, CMT and VH1 Music Channels is now working in Windows Media Player 11 on Windows Vista build 5381. Windowsconnected.com has some screenshots of Urge.

i think the real issue will be whether WMP11 (incl. Urge) will be bundled with Vista. If so, there will another big court battle between Microsoft and its competitors in the music downloading business, first and foremost with iTunes/Apple.
