US off to winning start at Hopman Cup
Boo – I had this written up a couple days ago and for some odd technical reason, it didn’t post. So here it is – a few days late. Mui bad-o.
Meghann Shaughnessy isn’t off to a half bad start in Australia at the Hopman Cup. She recorded a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over India’s Sania Mirza and Mardy Fish won his match to clinch the win for the USA.
Although the Americans lost the doubles match, it didn’t matter. That’s what happens in the best two-of-three competitions. It almost makes the final match worthless if one team is already up 2-0.
But – what do I know? I didn’t graduate from Ferris with a professional tennis management degree.
