US Treasury’s New Environmental Office

The US Department of the Treasury has a new division – the Office for Environment and Energy. Early this week, they announced who would be leading this Office: William “Billy” Pizer, who’s job as the Deputy Assistance Secretary will be developing, coordinating, and executing the Treasury’s domestic and international eco-agenda.
Pizer seems like a good choice. He worked over the past 12 years at Resources for the Future, a nonpartisan research organization that directed and published environmental policy research. In his new position, he’ll be in charge for overseeing finances of the Clean Technology Fun, the Tropical Forest Conservation Act, and the Global Environmental Facility.
