I have written about the latest release of the Ultimate Windows Tweak Utility yesterday which allowed for fun customization of Windows Vista or Windows 7. What if you are still stuck with Windows XP?

While I suggest that you start planning on moving to either Windows Vista or Windows 7, it would still be better if you can have some of those tweak utility stuff to improve your user experience on the operating system.

The PowerToys should help you get better experience while you are stuck with Windows XP. This tool can be downloaded via the Microsoft site, however, they clearly state that they do not support this product and wouldn’t answer questions related to it.

Some of the things you can get out of the PowerToys for Windows XP include:

  1. Color Control Panel Applet
  2. SyncToy
  3. RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer
  4. ClearType Tuner
  5. HTML Slide Show Wizard
  6. Open Command Window Here
  7. Alt-Tab Replacement
  8. Tweak UI
  9. Power Calculator
  10. Image Resizer
  11. CD Slide Show Generator
  12. Virtual Desktop Manager
  13. Taskbar Magnifier
  14. Webcam Timershot

Go ahead and try the PowerToys, just remember to proceed cautiously because Microsoft says they are not supporting this tool. Try this out at your own risk.
