Using Multiple Monitors

Having multiple monitors is a boon for people who multitask. You can have open spreadsheets on one while surfing the net on another. It not only looks cool but can actually improve your productivity. You can also use multiple monitors for games that support this feature giving you a wider range of vision, for example.

I’ve been using two monitors simultaneously with my laptop for over 3 years now. Let me tell ya, it’s great having all that desktop real estate to play with. Your mouse moves from screen to screen and you can move open windows from one screen to the other just as if you were using a single large monitor.

If you have a desktop computer and you want multiple monitors, your best bet is to buy an external monitor and a second video adapter that supports multiple monitors. Here’s a list of Supported Display Adapters for Multiple Monitors and Dualview. Alternatively, you can upgrade your current video adapter with an adapter that can connect directly to multiple monitors. You can find such video adapters for less than $200 at most electronics stores—just make sure that it’s compatible with your computer and has connectors that match the monitors you plan to use.
